Spice Girls’ Mel B to Host Miss Universe Pageant

Spice Girls’ Melanie Brown has been named as co-host of this year’s Miss Universe Pageant alongside Jerry Springer, PEOPLE has learned exclusively.

“I’m thrilled to be a co-host of the Miss Universe pageant,” says Brown in a statement. “I believe the diversity and dedication that the pageant brings inspires and empowers young women across the globe.”

Brown was recently offered a role in Legally Blonde on Broadway and is working on a solo album, which she hopes to release later this year. Her TLC music game show, The Singing Office, which she co-hosts with Joey Fatone, debuts this week.

The pageant will be taped in Vietnam and will air on July 13 from 9-11 p.m. EST on NBC.
